Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Mint today announced that a limited edition of 75,000 New Hampshire Official First Day Coin Covers will be available online at www.USMINT.gov. at noon Eastern Time on September 18. The First Day Coin Covers feature two New Hampshire quarters from the first day of mintage — July 31, 2000.

Priced at $19.95, the First Day Coin Cover includes quarters from both the Philadelphia and Denver Mints on a handsome display card with the 33-cent Flag-Over-City postage stamp. The postmark of “August 7, 2000, Concord, New Hampshire” marks the day the New Hampshire quarters were first released to the Federal Reserve and the public - certifying this limited edition and honoring “The Granite State.”

The reverse design of the New Hampshire quarter depicts one of New Hampshire’s greatest natural attractions - “The Old Man of the Mountain” - opposite nine stars, signifying New Hampshire’s status as the ninth state to ratify the U.S. Constitution - and the state motto, “Live Free or Die.” The design was based on suggestions given to the New Hampshire Commemorative Quarter Committee, established by Governor Jeanne Shaheen to moderate a statewide design contest.

The New Hampshire quarters are the ninth coins of the 50 State Quarters™ Program that honors each of the 50 states in the order they entered the union. Five state designs will be issued each year through 2008 at approximately 10-week intervals.
